Musician

She started with piano lessons at age five, when she was charmed by her mother’s new Baldwin piano.  At seven years old she begged her parents for violin lessons, and three years later the fiddle officially became her focus.  She has also always been an enthusiastic singer with a penchant for folk music, choir pieces, and songs from musical theatre.  Occasionally she also delves into opera and pop, in that order and never simultaneously.  Apart from her three focuses, violin, piano, and voice, she also dabbles in a variety of other instruments, including: erhu, feadóg, guitar, guzheng, and viola.

In her possession are seven violins (one of them electric and with five strings), two erhus, one Baldwin upright piano, one Yamaha grand piano, one keyboard with seventy-six keys, four guzhengs, two guitars, three feadógs, one hulusi/cucurbit flute, at least four Chinese dizis, and many others that she has lost track of.

who is she?

21-year-old Asian American writer, musician, artist, and businesswoman living and working in New York City. Her greatest loves are honey bees, books, frozen yogurt, dogs, and her boyfriend. She lived in Shanghai for a year and Paris for a summer, and she can’t wait to go back and do it all again.

She has far too many interests and divides her free time between: creating works of fiction, taking an excessive number of photographs, singing at the top of her lungs, designing shiny graphics, learning about beekeeping, playing the violin, banging on the piano, drenching her Moleskine art book in watercolor paints, and more.
