- Be patient. Be mindful. Be kind.
- Challenge myself. Try the writing process things that have always scared me.
- Be even more dedicated to my Ashtanga yoga practice.
- Schedule in time to relax and have fun. Don’t be afraid to give my mind a break.
My dream goal for this year is to finish both USLS and WRBTD. I’m feeling pretty good about this.
At Kayla’s suggestion I stopped working on my novels when I left for vacation, and that was a much needed break. I can’t remember the last time I stopped writing for that long. There were days when I felt immensely guilty, but at the end of it all I felt recharged for the first time in…well, probably years.
Now I’ve officially turned off vacation mode and am back to writing. All the stupid things I was struggling with at the beginning of December suddenly have easy fixes. It’s like I’ve refreshed my eyes; I can see clearly again.
I’m really excited about the work I’m doing on USLS right now. Even though elements of the story have been kicking around in my brain for years and much has been drafted in past iterations, the stuff I’m doing right now is essentially from scratch. It’s exhilarating. I feel like I’m finally starting to produce the type of work I’ve been striving for all my life.
This year is off to a very good start.
