Life has been absolutely wild, and in the best of ways. I haven’t posted in quite a while, and it wasn’t that I forgot or anything. It was because SO MUCH was going on and I was terrified of jinxing things.
But now that stuff is all settled, I’m bursting to share my news. Here’s what’s been happening the last couple months:
- I finally wrapped up revisions on my novel, which I have referred to in the past as USLS. This was the project I spent 2015 rewriting from scratch, and I couldn’t believe it was almost ready for the next step.
- I began my yoga teacher training, which has been wonderful — I’ll have to write a separate post about that at some point. I’m especially obsessed with all the anatomy and philosophy we’re studying.
- I queried agents and sent out USLS (!!!) and tried not to gnaw off my fingers in anticipation.
- I went into my boss’s office and told him I would be leaving my day job to focus on writing (and yoga). I was so terrified to tell him, but he grinned and told me he was so proud of me and gave me a big hug. (Have I mentioned I have the best boss ever?) My last day at Penguin will be December 11th!
So here we are, in NOVEMBER, and I can’t believe how quickly all this time has passed.
The biggest news of all: I’m thrilled to say that my writing is now represented by the brilliant Michael Bourret at Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.
It still doesn’t feel quite real.
I’ve been trying to do NaNoWriMo, and GOOD GOD it has been ridiculously hard to focus with all the agent stuff going on. The phone calls and the back and forth and the considering offers. I’ve had so much good news I’ve sort of reached the point of exhaustion. Life is treating me so very kindly.
